HDOT- Replace Tunnel LightingPPEC was contracted to replace the existing HID tunnel lighting system with new LED fixtures in the Pali tunnel, Wilson tunnel, Harano tunnel, Hospital Rock tunnel, & Middle Street Tunnels. Additional supporting scope included upgrading the lighting control system, conduit and wire with a new modern energy efficient system. Work also included careful coordination with State Highway personnel to schedule the highway closures for each tunnel location and with State of Hawaii emergency services to ensure that the proper contingencies were in place for system constancy.

C&C Honolulu- LED StreetlightThe scope of work includes the conversion of C&C’s HID Street light fixtures to LED equivalents and the installation of a networked outdoor lighting control system. PPEC’s portion of the work included the North Shore, Central O’ahu, the Ewa plain, & Waianae coast on O’ahu which equated to approx. 20,000 fixtures. Meticulous planning and coordination with the C&C personnel was required to procure the necessary road usage permits for the project.

HART TES Cable InstallationThe HART rail project includes installation of (6) traction power substations as well as the installation, termination and testing of the DC power cabling from traction power substations to the rail. Each station required an average of 25 parallel DC runs of 750kcmil, 2kv cabling. Installation of cable tray raceway for the DC cables was also a major scope of this work. Much of this work was located in major highways and required extensive planning for road usage and safety of the workers.

SPIDERS- Phase 3 MicrogridSPIDERS Phase 3 was an important federal project that provided cyber security to the power system at Camp Smith Oahu. Pacific Power provided the electrical, instrumentation, and communication/fiber installation for the project. The project provided the capability for Camp Smith to “island” its power from the utility grid. The project consisted of the installation of (4) 725Kw, 480v generators, substation construction, battery storage, connection to four base substations, reconfiguration of substations, new SEL control relays (qty 29), underground and overhead distribution and cyber secure fiberoptic communication system.
